he Dodge Viper is slated to make a comeback in 2012 with an all-new early 2013
model year design. Rumors have it that the design team at Dodge, now
bolstered by an infusion of Italian influence from their FIAT partners
who are also responsible for the Alfa-Romeo, will be introducing a more
stable and controllable version of the muscular sports car that will
appeal to a wider range of drivers.
First of all, can you handle ten, yes, ten cylinders? The hallmark of the Dodge Viper
has always been its V10 engine, that delivers an astounding 600
horsepower in its most recent incarnation. Certainly, this is not the
kind of car that you are looking for if you just use your car to drive
to the train station every morning to catch the train to work. On the
other hand, if driving is an adventure and an experience for you, and
you enjoy attracting the admiring stares of everyone who watches you
pass them on the freeway, then that V10 power and original Viper design
is there to show the world that you know how to get ahead in every sense
of the word.
Of course, the powerful image of the Viper does not come cheap.
Presently available new models list in the 90,000 dollar range and even a
used model will set you back close to $78,000. On the other hand,
because the car is so unusual, a Dodge Viper is an instant classic,
especially because a major redesign is around the corner. So, if you
have the money to spare, consider it a perhaps slightly risky
investment, that you may be able to recoup a few years down the road
when older Dodge Vipers become collector's items. No pricing information
is available on the new generation Viper, but an educated guess would
be at least ten percent more than the presently available model. Again,
if this car is for you, the money is well-spent as besides your
priceless enjoyment of the car, you are investing your money into a
unique niche vehicle that will at least retain most of its value when
you are ready to exchange it for a newer car.
