Leaked Porsche 918 Spyder Brochure Tells us that a Blue Shade will Cost Buyers a Mere...$65,000

While most manufacturers do their best to hide their latest models from prying eyes before their official launch, Porsche has been quite forthcoming about its new supercar, the 918 Spyder.
In fact, it has already released a barrage of information, including the specifications of its 770+ HP hybrid powertrain and (provisional) performance figures: 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) comes in 3.2 seconds and top speed exceeds 320 km/h (199 mph).
Today, Porsche announced on its Facebook page that the 918 Spyder has lapped the Nordschleife in 7:14’. That's better than most supercars, including its Carrera GT predecessor and the Lexus LFA Nürburgring edition, but behind the "old" Dodge Viper ACR (7:12.13) as far as production models are concerned.

Blast from the Past: Porsche Carrera GT Revisited by Autocar (w/Video)

It’s funny how fast things change in the automotive world. In fact, they change even faster in its upper echelons, simply because supercar makers can charge whatever they want so they are free from restraints applied to normal companies.
Upcoming models like the McLaren P1, the Ferrari "F70" and the Porsche 918 Spyder are so powerful and technologically advanced that they make their predecessors seem like something from the Stone Age.

You Won’t Believe Why Porsche Headlight Thefts Surge in Amsterdam

While pot smokers can puff a sigh of relief after Amsterdam's mayor stated that cannabis cafés will remain open for business with foreign visitors, despite a new Dutch law designed to reduce drug tourism, Porsche car owners in the city won't be sharing the same sentiment.
Only in the past week, some 20 owners of Porsche Panamera sedans and Cayenne SUVs in Amsterdam had their vehicles' headlamps stolen.
If you are wondering why the sudden surge in Porsche headlight thefts, the answer will leave you stunned: Amsterdam Police suspect that the thieves are using the Porsche Xenon headlamps for use as grow lights for marijuana!

Slippery when Wet: Porsche Demonstrates New 911 Carrera 4 in Adverse Road Conditions

Even Porsche itself knows that, if it weren’t for its large fan and more importantly, customer base, the 911 would be long gone and replaced by something that adheres to, rather than disregarding, the laws of Physics.

No matter how you put it, letting the engine hanging out behind the rear axle may provide superior traction from a standstill but, when it comes to cornering, it creates a pendulum effect that’s hard to contain.

Porsche Details New 911 GT3 Cup While Displaying it on the Track

Porsche is far from done showing off its most prized version of the 991-generation 911, the all-new GT3 Cup racing model, but if you're expecting to see the car roar through a circuit with no other distractions in this new video, we're sorry to say, you will be disappointed. Read more »

Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo Makes its Driving Debut in Beverly Hills

When Porsche launched the Type 970, aka the Panamera saloon at the 2009 Shanghai Auto Show, it received quite a lot of criticism. Though in no way did it induce the wrath of the press and the public like the Cayenne SUV did, they all agreed that its design was, if not ugly, then certainly heavy-handed.

It was an issue that came up in each and every review: the Panamera was praised for its sporty ride, quality interior and ability to transport four adults and a fair amount of luggage but its exterior styling was always the sticking point.

Fast forward three years to the 2012 Paris Auto Show and the Panamera Sport Turismo concept. In sharp contrast to the production Panamera saloon, the shooting brake received universal praise for its sleek styling that, the company said, “is an outlook on a possible Porsche sports car of tomorrow”.

Seventh Son: Porsche Unveils 991-Based GT3 Cup Racer [w/Video]

When you have a brand-new model in your showrooms, it doesn’t really make sense to have participants run your own one-make series with an older generation car. Even more so if you are Porsche and the car in question is the 911 that takes part in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.

Well, that’s stretching the truth a bit: the racers aren’t based on the base 911 Carrera or Carrera S but the hardcore GT3 – hence the GT3 Cup moniker for the model that the company claims is the most successful racing car ever, having sold 2,385 units since 1998.

With the seventh generation 911, code-named 991, been on the roads for more than a year now, it was about time the Stuttgart automaker rolled out its successor. That happened yesterday during the “Night of Champions” event at the brand's R&D center in Weissach.

The all-new 911 GT3 Cup is powered by a 3.8-liter flat-six with 453HP (460PS), 10HP more than the 997 GT3 RS-based model it replaces, delivered 1,000 rpm lower, at 7,500. Power is directed to the rear wheels via a six-speed dog-type gearbox developed by Porsche Motorsport that, for the first time in a Porsche Cup car, is operated by paddle shifters.

Porsche Teases 991-Based GT3 Cup Racer, Road-Going 911 GT3 Must Be Close

If there’s one thing we know about Porsche is that, no matter how many SUVs or sporty saloons it may churn out, it will never tinker with the trusted, 50-year old 911 philosophy. Truth be told, it did try to kill it once, back in the 1970s with the 928, but it failed – so it was a lesson it must have learned well.

That recipe isn’t just about maintaining the iconic shape and the flat-six engine hung out behind the rear axle; it’s also about launching a whole bunch of new variants of each generation.

U Spy: Porsche's New 2013 Cayman Coupe and Macan SUV Filmed in Stuttgart

While you can occasionally stumble on a 2013 Cayman at an airport warehouse in the U.S., there's no question that the best locations to spot a future Porsche model are the Nürburgring race track and the automaker's home city of Stuttgart in Germany.

CarScoop reader Toldi has made an art of capturing upcoming Porsche models on film and this time, he was able to scoop two prototypes, the 2013 Cayman coupe and the all-new Macan mid-size luxury crossover.

Porsche Cayman Coupe Slams Into the Rear End of a Truck without Lights

The driver of a Porsche Cayman coupe was filmed by an adjacent vehicle fitted with a dashboard-mounted camera smashing violently into the rear end of a truck at high speed.

The accident, which looks like it took place in China or at least in a neighboring country (if any of our readers can help with the translation, leave us a message in the comments), occurred when the Cayman driver didn't notice the truck that did not have any lights open at the back and was traveling on the left hand side of the road.

In its past issue, CAR magazine celebrated its golden anniversary and declared the Porsche 911 the best car ever in its 50-year-old history.

Editor-at-large Chris Chilton decided to take the new Porsche 911 with the internal codename 991 to the famous Furka Pass in the Swiss Alps. He also brought along a 1965 version of the 911 that's identical to the original launched in 1963.

Scoop: New Porsche Macan SUV Drives Around for the Camera

The next big, or shall we say, smaller thing to come from Porsche is a second crossover model that will be positioned under the Cayenne and with which the German company will fight for sales in the mid-size segment rivaling the likes of the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLK.

The Stuttgart-based automaker has already picked a name for its "baby" SUV that will be known as the Macan.

Tuner Mods Porsche 911 Cabriolet with a Central Driving Position

There are many ways to modify a Porsche 911, but to be candid, turning Stuttgart's sports car into a three-seater of sorts featuring a 1+2 seating arrangement with the driver positioned in the center, is something that never really crossed our minds.

Which brings us to this creation named the "Centro 911" built by Nigel Tuckey from Trinity Motorsports in Lima, Ohio.

Nissan DeltaWing Hit by Porsche Rolls Over but Gets Fixed in Time for Road Atlanta’s Le Mans Race

Apparently, Porsche and Nissan’s radical DeltaWing racer mix like oil and water. At this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race, the DeltaWing retired after hitting the barrier at the Porsche Curves following a collision with a Toyota TS030 Hybrid on lap 75.

Undeterred, Nissan entered the DeltaWing in the final event of the 2012 American Le Mans Series, the Petit Le Mans 1,000 mile/10 hour race that will take place tomorrow at the Road Atlanta track.

During testing, Gunnar Jeannette who was behind the wheel at the time, had a frightening accident when the DeltaWing was hit by a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup on Turn 11 and rolled over.

Spy Shots Confirm that New Porsche 991 GT3 will get a PDK Dual Clutch Transmission

We had heard the rumors that Porsche was evaluating a PDK dual clutch transmission for the new 991-generation of its hardcore 911 GT3 in place of the traditional manual gearbox that has been around ever since the series was introduced in 1999, but now we have the first photographic proof of it.

A member of the Gearstage forums spotted prototypes of both the Porsche 918 Spyder and 911 GT3 somewhere in San Francisco, USA, and was able to get close enough to nab some pictures of the 991-series GT3's interior.

Porsche Cayenne Driver Thinks he has a Real 4x4 and Tries to Speed Through the Water…

We will admit that the Porsche Cayenne is pretty good at a lot of things but a real, capable off-roader or "4x4" it is not.

Nevertheless, we believe that even the Cayenne could have navigated through this flooded underpass if the driver had taken a more cautious approach entering at a low speed instead of slamming the pedal to the metal disturbing the water in front of him.
